Back up workflows daily to GitHub with incremental updates
Quick overview This workflow runs nightly to back up all workflows from your n8n instance to a GitHub repository, creating a new JSON file for new workflows and only updating existing files when the workflow has changed to avoid unnecessary commits. How it works Runs every day at 11 PM on a schedule trigger. Retrieves a list of all workflows in your n8n instance using the n8n API and processes them one by one. Checks GitHub to see whether a backup JSON file already exists for the current workflow. If no file exists, fetches the full workflow JSON from n8n and creates a new file in the GitHub repository. If a file exists, calls the GitHub Commits API to get the latest commit date for that file and compares it to the workflow’s updatedAt date in n8n. If n8n is newer, downloads the latest workflow JSON and updates the existing file on GitHub; otherwise it skips updating to avoid creating a commit. Waits 10 seconds between GitHub operations to reduce the chance of hitting GitHub API rate limits. Quick overview This workflow backs up all workflows from your n8n instance to a GitHub repository every day at 03:00, and also supports an on-demand Telegram /backup command, then sends a Telegram message with the backup result and commit link. How it works Runs daily at 03:00 and also triggers when a Telegram message is received. Checks that the incoming Telegram message starts with /backup before proceeding with the manual run. Fetches all workflows from the n8n instance via the n8n API. Builds a JSON backup file containing the workflows and sets the GitHub file path as backups/YYYY-MM-DD/workflows.json. Checks in GitHub whether the backup file already exists and either updates it or creates it with a dated commit message. How it works Triggers automatically when a new GitHub issue is opened, kicking off AI-powered issue triage. Fetches up to 30 currently open GitHub issues from the same repository as duplicate-detection candidates. Sends the new issue and the candidate list to Claude AI, which assigns labels, detects duplicate issues, and drafts a reproduction-request comment when needed. If Claude AI flags the issue as a duplicate, the automation labels the new issue, links it to the original GitHub issue, and comments with a reference back to it. Based on Jonathan & Solomon work. > The only addition I've made is a Set node. This node organizes workflows into subfolders within the GitHub repository based on their respective tags. How it works This workflow will backup your workflows to GitHub. It uses the n8n API node to export all workflows. It then loops over the data, checks in GitHub to see if a file exists that uses the credential's ID. Once checked it will: update the file on GitHub if it exists; create a new file if it doesn't exist; ignore if it's the same. Who is this for? Restore backed up workflows from GitHub to n8n
Restore backed up workflows from GitHub to your n8n workspace. This workflow was inspired by this one that lets you back up your n8n workflows to GitHub. It will let you restore your backed up workflows in your workspace, without creating duplicates. In case of issue with your instance, it will save you a lot of time to restore them. How it works It retrieves the workflows saved in a GitHub repository. Then compares these saved workflows with the ones in your n8n workspace based on the name. It will only create them if they don't already exist. Set up steps Open the "Global" node and set your own information (see Configuration below) Click on "Test workflow" It will run through all the workflows in the GitHub repository, check if the name doesn't already exist in your workspace and, in this case, create it. Sync Zendesk tickets with subsequent comments to GitHub issues
This workflow creates a GitHub issue when a new ticket is created in Zendesk. Subsequent comments on the ticket in Zendesk are added as comments to the issue in GitHub. Prerequisites Zendesk account and Zendesk credentials. GitHub account and GitHub credentials. GitHub repository to create issues in. How it works The workflow listens for new tickets in Zendesk. When a new ticket is created, the workflow creates a new issue in GitHub. The GitHub issue number is then saved in one of the ticket's fields (in setup we call this "GitHub Issue Number"). This workflow will backup your workflows to Github. It uses the public api to export all of the workflow data using the n8n node. It then loops over the data checks in Github to see if a file exists that uses the workflow name. Once checked it will then update the file on Github if it exists, Create a new file if it doesn't exist and if it's the same it will ignore the file. Backup workflows to GitHub
Note: This workflow uses the internal API which is not official. This workflow might break in the future. The workflow executes every night at 23:59. You can configure a different time bin the Cron node. Configure the GitHub nodes with your username, repo name, and the file path. In the HTTP Request nodes (making a request to localhost:5678), create Basic Auth credentials with your n8n instance username and password.
Release a new version via Telegram bot command
This workflow allows you to release a new version via a Telegram bot command. This workflow can be used in your Continous Delivery pipeline. Telegram Trigger node: This node will trigger the workflow when a message is sent to the bot. If you want to trigger the workflow via a different messaging platform or a service, replace the Telegram Trigger node with the Trigger node of that service. IF node The IF node checks for the incoming command. If the command is not deploy, the IF node will return false, otherwise true. Set node: This node extracts the value of the version from the Telegram message and sets the value. This value is used later in the workflow. GitHub node: This node creates a new version release. It uses the version from the Set node to create the tag. NoOp node: Adding this node is optional.
Save your workflows into a GitHub repository
Basics Provides a mechanism to save all your workflows into a github repository and path (of your choosing). These can then be shared through your entire org and used to track changes (if you make any sad 'oopsies'. Flow Obtains and creates listing of currently configured workflows. Iterates through each workflow looking at the following Github source (if present) Actual workflow code (from N8N) Workflow code is sorted and compared for any changes If changed (or new) the workflows are saved / archived into github. Configuration Most of the configuration is done in the Globals node which houses the repo detail for github nodes. The only other dependency is that it by default looks for a GitHub credential, if you use something other than that precise wording you will need to change the credential used on the respective nodes. We gave it 'Manage' rights, but that was only so that it was able to override a requirement for checks to complete? Most would probably only need 'Write' privileges. Background Well, so we initially started using N8N just as a kubernetes-based service housed with its DB running inside the pod. Worked great for getting to know N8N and we jut kept all our workflow
